Description

On this campus tour, experience The George Washington University virtually as we dive into all aspects of the university and its student’s life. Like much of Washington, D.C., this historic university got its start with congress. Now it has developed into a private institution with over 2,000 undergraduate classes and more than 200 masters, doctoral and graduation certification programs. The George Washington University is best known for the Elliot School of international Affairs and the Milken Institute School of Public Health, both schools providing some of the best programs in their field in the nation.

George Washington University’s main campus is located in the historic neighborhood, Foggy Bottom, which is conveniently located next to the White House and within walking distance from the Lincoln Memorial. We also have our own art school, the Corcoran School of Art and design, which sits on 17th street, NW, right across from the Eisenhower Building, the old executive office building.

As we stroll around the very urban campus, I will highlight what campus life looks like by showing you some of the buildings used as dormitories as well student indoor and outdoor common spaces. George Washington University also has its one metro stop with 3 lines, and it is only 15 minutes from the neighborhoods of Georgetown and Dupont - both very famed neighborhoods in their variety of shops and restaurants.

Though during the tour we will explore only the Foggy Bottom locations, George Washington University also has 2 other campuses: One is by a Foxhall neighborhood called Mount Vernon which looks more like a traditional campus and also happens to be the site of most of their sports facilities including the outdoor pools that all students can use. The second campus, on the other hand, is in Virginia and is referred to as the Virginia Science & Technology Campus. As the name suggests, it is where most large-scale research is conducted.

I will be delighted to tell you more about life at this wonderful school and its neighborhood, full of history and excitement, where there is not a single boring day and the motto is #onlyatGW. Join me on this live-streamed, interactive online tour, and let's get started!

Meet your Host
Juliana Bedoya

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia. I moved to New York at the age of 8 and used my passion for history and anthropology to quickly learn and assimilate with American culture. Once I moved to Washington, D.C., I started using the city as a way to explore my passions through frequent visits to the museums and monuments. While working for the Smithsonian's, I realized how much I enjoyed creating conversations with visitors. Ultimately, this lead to my becoming a tour guide!

These tours are organized by North America Tour Hub and are co-hosted by David, Juliana, Butch, and Vanessa.
