Description
Fall in love with Venice and the art and culture of the first Jewish Ghetto of the world. Together, we will discover who the Doge of Venice was when the first Jewish Ghetto was established and why he created it. We will begin our virtual tour at Ghetto Vecchio and travel back in time, and we will talk about the past's daily life and even uncover the deep marks left by WW2.
In the next leg of our tour, we will see where Jewish Venetians were deported to the concentration camps and find out how they are remembered today. In Campo Ghetto Novo, we will look for the hidden synagogues and stop by Venice's oldest pawnshop. Towards the end, you will see the newest area of the Ghetto, where we will discover why Napoleon symbolically had the district's gates opened. Here, we will be greeted by a pleasant view of Cannaregio, the most authentic Sestiere of Venice, with its beautiful bridges and canals.
