- Real-time experience streamed live from a boat in the Amazon
- Insights into the lifestyle and culture of the local indigenous communities
- Visit unique places such as an Amazonian floating village and a Pirarucu fish farm
Description
This Online Experience will be live-streamed from the Amazon river, where we will take a boat to explore parts of the river and learn about the culture of the people who have been living in the rainforest for centuries.
We will visit a floating village of the kind commonly seen in this area and make a stop at a Pirarucu fish farm. These fish are among the largest freshwater fish and are native to the basin of the Amazon River. We will then navigate through flooded forests and reach the 'Meeting of Waters' in Manaus. This is the confluence between the dark or black waters of Rio Negro and the pale sandy-coloured whitewater of the Amazon River, also referred to as the Solimoes River in Brazil. The interesting part is that the rivers meet, but the water of the two doesn't mix and goes on separate ways for quite a while, creating an amazing yet bizarre sight! Together, we will explore many more fascinating facts about these Amazonian rivers.
