Description
This online experience will have you offer your prayers by taking a round or a "parikrama" of the Jokhang Temple. As we walk around the temple's perimeter, I will show you the rolling iron cylinders with 'mantras' written on them and explain their significance. Every year, Tibetan and Chinese Pilgrims travel thousands of kilometres to seek blessings at the stupa, the Cho Statue and the seat of the Dalai Lama.
We will also go through the bustling streets of the temple complex to see the daily life and times of us locals. Further through Parikrama Road, you will pass by shops selling traditional Tibetan clothing. I will also take you to a local shopping mall and show you around the shops selling Tibetan souvenirs. All through this online experience, you will hear interesting stories about the pilgrims, the monks who study at Jokhang Temple, and the local cultures and traditions.

Meet your Host
Dhundup Dolma
I am a local tourist guide from Lhasa and have been guiding all across Tibet since 2006. My father is from Kham and my mother is from Lhasa. Based on my experience and knowledge I can show you authentic and unique places. I love Tibetan history, culture, religious practices and opera. I learnt Tibetan opera as a child in school and practice it sometimes during special ceremonies or festivals. I love to challenge myself by taking on high altitude trekking.
