Home to one of the most important ports in Poland and one of the largest on the whole Baltic seaboard, the modern city of Gdynia has grown up to be a thriving epicentre of trade in the northern Tricity area of nearby Gdansk and luxurious Sopot. Most Gdynia tourist guides will be quick to recommend visits to both of these connected areas on the SKM train, while others will speak of Gdynia’s own happening boardwalk, its smattering of historical churches and the nearby beaches of Orłowo and quieter Osada Rybacka.
Gdynia has also become something of a favourite spot for nature tourists looking to explore the walking trails and cliff tops nearby. These are often said to be one of the best experiences of the rugged Baltic coast in Poland, and also offer great access to nearby Wejherowo and the famous Hel Peninsula.
