Engage a local guide from tourHQ to help you delve into Namibia’s national museums and glug beer in the Oktoberfest celebrations that take this German-flavored capital by storm each year.

The gateway to Namibia, the cosmopolitan city of Windhoek is surrounded by mountains. Once colonised by Germany, the strong German influence prevails with the annual Oktoberfest, beer drinking and a European café feel. Intertwined with the local population there is a vibrancy of colour, traditional dress and a variety of languages spoken. A well-heeled Windhoek Tourist guide will be able to expose you to the bustling markets, the Lutheran Christuskirche (Christ Church) and the National Museum of Alte Feste (Old Fort). Beyond Windhoek one is able to visit the orange sand dunes of Sossusvlei. The snake like curves of the sand transformed by wind provide spectacular views of the area as well as the dry white clay deposits of Deadvlei. If you are looking for relief from the dry heat, Swakopmund provides adventure galore. Take on the dunes with quad bikes or sand boarding or para sail over the sea from one of the landing bases. Sitting at one of the many cafes on the promenade, the fresh breeze from the ocean is a welcome relief. Don your helmet, jump on the jeep and take safari ride in Walvis Bay and witness Africa’s Big 5. The only place on earth where the black rhino has freedom, the largest population of cheetahs and elephant’ roaming freely in the desert makes this a one of a kind safari.
