Mozambique’s capital city and most important harbour, Maputo is among Africa’s more attractive cities. Spreading out from the port, the heart of the city is amongst its colonial-style Portuguese buildings where locals enjoy the twin pursuits of trade and leisure out in the sun. The pace slows somewhat at the Elephant Reserve and even more along the seaside at the beaches of Catembe and Ponta d'Ouro. The beautiful Inhaca Island nearby is the perfect spot relax over Mozambican beer and a fresh meal of peri peri prawns.
