Johor Bahru is located in southern Malaysia, connected to Singapore by a causeway. More known as a commercial centre for manufacturing electronics and transport, the city hosts a very mixed population that comprises Malay, Chinese and Indian communities amongst others.
There are a few places of touristic significance to visit here, such as The Sultan Ibrahim Building, the Sultan Abu Bakar mosque and Istana Besar or Grand Palace, the royal palace of the Sultanate of Johor. If traveling with kids, or simply looking for some fun, check out the theme park Danga World, or the Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park. The Johor Bahru tourist guide lists the Johor Bahur City Square office tower as the tallest building in this area, its shopping complex the latest of shopping malls that add to the spruced up look of the city. A few hours drive away from Johor Bahru get your nature fix; beaches, the Kota Tinggi and Lombong Waterfalls and the Endau-Rompin National Park, a rainforest reserve. Relax with a multitude of choices of activity; golf at world class golf courses, diving, snorkeling and many such water sports at Palau Tioman and its neighbouring islands or just a lazy seafood meal at the fishing town of Mersing.
