Carved into the crevices of the Amalfi Coast, Positano's photogenic rows of ice-cream-colored and terracotta homes vertically cascade into the sky-blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. With its tight-knit and narrow concentric streets winding past the vineyard-dressed headlands and the cracked stucco frontispieces of 19th-century mansions, it's easy to see why so many fall in love here (with both the place and other people!). There’s a cozy yet busy beach, strung out between two promontories and peppered with fishing boats below the centre. There are earthy little Campanian cafes, issuing the scents of Limon cello and Neapolitan pizzas out into the warm southern airs. There are plentiful home grown (and expensive) fashion boutiques ripe for lazy browsing, and a Byzantine-styled church with ceramic domes that shimmer in the sun. Positano tour guides offer everything from historic walking tours to luxury boat rides to the nearby grottos, not to mention trips out to iconic Capri for a real taste of La Dolce Vita.
