Jean picked us up from Mato Grosso Palace Hotel in Cuiaba to take us to Pousada Piuval near Pocone, for our Pantanal adventure. Jean is a very safe driver and made us feel welcome from the start. He went out of his way to show us as much of the wildlife available at this time of year (November) during our short 3 day stay. His knowledge of the terrain and wildlife is amazing; we learned an enormous amount from him. If he felt that we had not experienced enough, he took us on very early walking trips to find the elusive creatures (ant eater). We also learned about his life and he learned from us. It made our trip very memorable and we have been in email contact since our return from Brazil. We would strongly recommend Jean to others who enjoy a good time as Jean communicates very well. Jean is also a very competent horse rider.

We had such an amazing time in the Pantanal with Jean as our guide. He was a fantastic guide and made our trip so memorable. Especially the jaguar and monkeys! So special! We also enjoyed learning about him and his family - very interesting. We are glad we got to share our first trip to Brazil with Jean.

In September of this year I planned a photographic trip to the Pantanal, I chose my Pousada, booked my flights from Rio and set off. Jean Duval was waiting for me at Cuiaba airport and we commenced our journey along the Transpantaneira highway to the pousada. From the outset Jean made it his priority to see that I was comfortable and we made various brief stops along the highway to view and photograph the many birds, animals and points of interest. For the six days of my stay at the pousada Jean was my appointed guide and he was able to show me the various birds and animals and explain their lifestyle and habitat etc, without his knowledge I know I would not have seen half of the wildlife I sought to photograph. We had at least two or more activities organized each day for my group and others which included horseback riding, canoeing, river boat trips, truck safaris or just walking, on each trip Jean appeared to be keenly interested in his subject and just as keen to pass on this knowledge to us. On each of these joint trips with other guides and visitors Jean made sure that my personal interests were taken care of. In all a very pleasant and enjoyable trip. I´m not sure when but I would like to return to the Pantanal, maybe in a different season and for sure I will look up Jean to be my guide.
