Cape Peninsula Tour

Reviewed June 9, 2022

My partner and I spent 6 days in May 2022, with Greg Hillyard as our guide and driver.  Greg definitely helped us make the most of our time in the Cape Town area.  We found Greg to be very professional, highly personable and a good communicator before and during our trip.  He worked with us to create an itinerary to suit our interests.

Greg is a very intelligent and knowledgeable guide who took us to a wide variety of locations at the best time of day to avoid crowds and capture photos in optimum light.  His local knowledge and insight led us to interesting places to eat, shop and explore which were off the beaten path. With an eye on the weather, Greg adjusted our itinerary as needed in order to maximize our sightseeing.  Whether it was intimate wineries, hidden beaches, scenic viewpoints, cool cafes, obscure history, unusual parks, street art or colorful neighborhoods, Greg presented us with so much to learn, enjoy and think about.

We are confident that we saw and learned so much more with Greg as our guide than we could every possibly done on our own all the while honing our photographic skills.  We would highly recommend Greg who we found to be the utmost professional.

Let Greg Help You Make the Most of Your Photography Opportunities

My wife and I just spent 5 wonderful days photographing greater Cape Town with Greg. We had originally considered renting a car and driving ourselves, but we are so glad we turned our trip over to Greg.

We are not professional photographers by any stretch, but we enjoy photographing our travels and Greg was the perfect guide. He knows where to go, what to shoot, how to shoot it and how to provide his guests the best opportunities to make the most of every location. Shooting vertically through an arch to bring the background in, finding reflections off otherwise inconsequential objects, focusing in on details that are otherwise overlooked, and waiting for a subject to do something interesting before taking a street scene are just a few of the off-hand suggestions Greg provided that turned otherwise average photos into something memorable. He also transformed my wife’s photo capabilities by helping her discover hidden capabilities of her iPhone.

From the V&A Wharf to Kirstenbosch Gardens, the wine country, penguins, the Cape of Good Hope, the Hermanus coastline, a Signal Hill sunrise and all points in between, Greg knows where to be when for the best photos. And from wine to gelato, he also knows all of the best and most affordable Cape Town-area eateries for snacks, lunch and dinner.

Finally, in addition to all of the above, Greg is a genuinely nice and thoughtful person who is very responsive to all inquiries and emails, willing to customize your time to your needs. A nice and enjoyable professional to spend time with, be it a few hours or a few days.

Photography Tours

My wife and I had a lovely, relaxing and safe time during our time in Cape Town. Greg immediately put us at ease as he conducted the Cape point tour, V&A evening tour, City walking tour and Township tour. Greg provided photography expertise/guidance as well as a commentary on history and facts about the locations we visited. We customised some elements which made for an enjoyable, relaxed and informtaive series of tours. The township tour was a particular highlight which was relaxed and one we would recommend to others. When we visit again, we would hope to catch up with  Greg again. We would definitely recommend Greg to others. He also knows some great coffee/cake shops!
