Outstanding day in Verdun

Reviewed October 1, 2019

Two of us spent a day with Cecil touring the WWI sites around Verdun.

Cecil was easy to work with in coordinating the day and very flexible in scheduling.  Communication was excellent throughout the process.  Excellent English skills!

Cecil quickly got a sense of our level of familiarity with the history of the battles in the area and adapted his information appropriately.   It was truly an informative and rewarding day.  Cecil is personable, highly knowledgeable & we enjoyed the time spent in his company.

I would use his services again & highly recommend him to anyone looking for a guide in the Verdun area

Fantastic Day at Verdun and Argonne Battlefields with Cecil!

Reviewed September 15, 2019

Cecil picked up our family of four adults at the TGV Meuse train station 9:00 a.m. on 3 September 2019. His vehicle is comfortable for four adults and provides good views while driving. He had us back in time for our 6:54 p.m. return train to Paris. In between we had a fantastic day touring first Verdun and then the Argonne battlefields. Cecil will customize your visit, but we did his standard tour which hit all the key spots we were hoping to see. Cecil is quite knowledgeable about the battles (I had read Alistair Horne's: The Price of Glory, Verdun 1916 a few months before), tells the basic story well, and illustrates many key visual elements along the way, all while professionally guiding the sites. The last stop of the day was Vauquois which was a fascinating unexpected gem! We highly recommend Cecil!

Wonderful Full Day Tour of the Battlefields of Verdun

Reviewed August 17, 2019

We found Cecil thru our hotel and booked him far in advance and were delighted we did so.  He picked us up in car at the hotel and the adventure began.  His English is excellent and his knowledge of the battles of Verdun is unsurpassed.  He recalled that on the first Sunday of each month, we could tour the Butte de Vacquois.   We had not heard of this site and it was absolutely fascinating.  The volunteer guides were also very professional and Cecil was an excellent translator.   From there, we saw as much as we could cram into the space of one day, stopping for lunch in a private museum to WWI that also served wonderful sandwiches.  At the end of the day, we shared a drink with Cecil to review our day.  If you plan on touring the battlefields of Verdun, be sure to get Cecil!
