An amazing time with Remzi in Cappadocia

Reviewed April 13, 2015

My husband and I spend a wonderful few days with Remzi in Cappadocia last spring (2014). Remzi was the best guide we had during our week-long stay in Turkey. In fact he was by far the best guide we've ever had the privilege of knowing. He met us at the airport and together with the lovely driver took us to our hotel and then met us the next morning for two days of fantastic touring. He was extremely knowledgeable about Cappadocia's fascinating history, art, architecutre and customs and was the friendliest and warmest person we met in Turkey. We learned so much from him about Cappadocia and about Turkey. We had fascinating discussions about history and culture that we will remember always. We highly recommend Remzi to anyone interested in visiting Cappadocia and we hope that one day we'll be able to return to his charming city and meet up with him again. Or be able to host him here in Washington! Thank you Remzi for making our stay in Cappadocia such a magical and memorable one!!

    Very knowledgeable and Accomodating Guide

    Reviewed April 13, 2015

Our flight arrival to Cappadocia was interrupted due to bad weather. Remzi did the best he could so that we could get as much as we could for our short stay there. With him as our guide we feel confident that every aspect of our stay was taken care of which is important when you are visiting a new country. Really appreciate his knowledge and love for his country and we thoroughly enjoyed his company during the tour.

Singly the best guide we have had the fortune to come across

    Reviewed April 10, 2015

We rarely respond positively to requests for references as there have been many cases of legal action against the reference writer for even minor issues in the UK. However, in this instance, we have no problems in highly recommending Remzi as he was singly the best guide we have had the fortune to come across. That has to be taken in the context that we are former tour operators specialising in expensive up-scale yachting holidays and we employed our own guides, etc. We would certainly have employed Remzi as the senior guide if we had operated holidays in your area as he fulfils the role of guide extremely well and he uses his initiative to ensure his clients get exactly what they want from his guiding. We are rather over-active and want to see as much as possible in a short time. Whilst history and culture are interesting for us, we are not academics - something that many guides cannot separate. Remzi got it spot on; he can put across the story in whatever detail and depth you want and importantly can keep you interested and amused with his side comments which give colour and life to the explanation. Everything was said with a smile in his voice. Remzi's planning was impeccable; we saw what were obviously the 'trophy' locations early in the day before the crowds arrived and we explored the more remote areas during the middle of the day. We enjoy finding local interest off-the normal tourist trail so we visited a couple of houses where a very traditional lifestyle was being conducted. He also leant of our interest in food and we were taken to an excellent non-tourist restaurant where we enjoyed local dishes and drinks. Without a doubt, if we wanted simply to look at a few places just to say we had done this and that without delving into history, he would still have made the trip memorable. We write for a number of magazines and websites, the main article we wrote on the trip to Cappadocia in the website: (http://www.motorbar.co.uk/trav_cappadocia.htm) cites Remzi in the introduction: "We found the guidebooks a little wanting in assisting us to organise the right balance and ingredients for our purposes; some were even misleading on basic data. However, we were introduced to Euphrates Tours who responded to our abnormally demanding brief with a well-balanced programme, together with great ground arrangements. We found that the Euphrates' guide — Remzi (pronounced 'Ramsey') — is highly respected throughout the area for his extraordinary in-depth knowledge on the history of the region. Not only is he a great communicator who can convey this knowledge with a stimulating freshness, but he also has a wicked sense of humour". At that time, the website was receiving 800,000 hits per month. We plan to return to Cappadocia and we would be very disappointed if we had to take any other guide than Remzi. I am sure that same reaction would be found in all the guests he has lead.
