The joy of nature

Reviewed September 4, 2016

Every time I have had the privilege of going on a guided walk with Andreas Groenewald, I am struck by his absolute love and joy for nature, and how blessed ou community is to have someone like him. One cannot help but be infected by his enthusiasm and passion for even the tiniest of flowers or insects. Always patient, always friendly, Andreas shares his vast knowledge in such a delightful way and always has an interesting story to tell to those walking with him. Thank you Andreas for sharing who you are with us!

Danielshoogte Nature Reserve Weekend

Reviewed August 25, 2016

Andreas organized a fantastic weekend all around, from beginning to end.

This weekend was designed specifically to view the West coast spring flowers and we were not disappointed! Such delicate beauties at every turn.

Andreas has a very deep connection and respect for all flora and fauna; therefore, his knowledge base is broad.

He has such a lovely temperament that no matter your level of knowledge or skill, he makes you feel welcome and encourages you along the way to safely reach your potential and even beyond!

Mother Nature dealt a bit of many weather conditions and Andreas found the beauty in every form, be it the morning rain and mist to the chill of the evening wind.

I recommend Andreas to anyone, of any background or skill level.

I look forward to another opportunity to join him on a guided walk or hike.

He is very much at home at Danielshoogte; if you can make that trip with him, I recommend it! The reserve owner Dani is quite a character and very well versed in nature & history as well.

Geology of the Cape Peninsula and Boland

Reviewed June 21, 2016

I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the two day trip with Andreas around the Cape Peninsula and mountain passes of the Boland. I lived in South Africa for many years before emigrating to the UK and my childhood holidays were spent in the Cape but I never really understood how the mountains got there and what they were made of. As an amateur geologist,  I had many Aha! moments with Andreas. His enthusiasm is so infectious and genuine that I am sure that anyone who tours with him will be ‘rocking’ before too long with new knowledge and pleasure and keen to know more. He also added colour by discussions about the flora and fauna of the Cape which were releant and knowledgeable. A wonderful time.
