We met Mariuxi while on a 7 night Galapagos cruise on the Celebrity Xperience. Mari was very safety and eco conscious, she was well informed and passionate about the details of Galapagos wildlife, flora and fauna as well as the preservation and protection of this incredible part of the world. Mari was clear about expectations and the need to respect the rules to  ensure safety for us as well as the wildlife. She listened intently to our questions and provided thoughtful and thorough responses. Her understanding of all we encountered was impressive  and her many years of work experience in the area was evident in her ability to explain and elaborate as well as comment on research and observations she has completed over the years. We saw excitement and passion in her readiness to share her insights freely. Although she worked alongside other very capable guides, Mari stood out as exceptional. She is friendly, supportive during challenging hikes and has a great sense of humour. We learned so much on this trip and will remember it fondly. If you have the opportunity to benefit from having Mari as your guide, we would highly recommend her!

My husband and I were actually on a 7 day Galapagos cruise with Celebrity Xperience from Balta round trip on an itinerary called "Southern Loop",  Mariuxi was one of our naturalist guide team on board for the full week.  We were so fortunate to have accompanied Mari on most of the shore trips throughout the week.  While all the guides were fantastic, Mari stood out for her excellent communication stills, in depth knowledge of the birds, fish, reptiles and mammals, her resourcefulness in finding the best views of the wildlife, particularly the flamingoes on the Floreana lagoon and not the least for her incredible enthusiasm at spotting wildlife and discovering new traits or habits that she hadn't seen before.  Mari also led my deep water snorkel group, pointing out both marine life and birds along the way.  I learned more on this trip than sitting in a few semesters at university.  This was the best vacation of my life which is saying something since I work as a travel agent with 30+ years of experience.  And in my opinion, the main differentiator in making it the best trip was my interaction with Mariuxi.  I will remember this trip most fondly for the rest of my life.  I would love to have Mari as a guide again in the future and I will certainly recommend her to my clients.

Our first impression of Mariuxi was how passionate and knowledgeable she was about her country and the Galapagos. She was well versed in the flora and fauna and shared that knowledge with her group. She eagerly answered any questions and went in depth to answer them. She was definitely a highlight on our seven day Galapagos tour with Celebrity Cruises!

We met Mari while on a Celebrity cruise tour of the Galapagos. Her knowledge in many different areas--biology, zoology,botany, geology--was vast and her enthusiasm for nature and wildlife was infectious. She readily answered all our many questions and was eager to share knowledge and explain difficult concepts in a way that was easy to comprehend.  I hope we may have the opportunity to spend time with her on additional tours.

We were so incredibly fortunate to have Mariuxi as onboard Naturalist during our trip to the Galapagos in February 2018.  Mariuxi's wealth of knowledge, and willingness to share it, is to be commended and it was truly a highly of our trip. Mariuxi has a passion for the preservation of the Galapagos that her guests can't help but share after spending time with her.   We can't say enough about our experience and how it was enhanced by Mariuxi.
