Cecil guided my 15 year old son and me on a full-day tour of several sites in and around Verdun, including Vauquois, the American Cemetery at Romagne, the American monument at Montfaucon (as well as the destroyed village adjacent to the monunment), Bayonette Trench, the Douaumont Oussuary and Fort de Vaux. I was impressed with his in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of the region, as well as his grasp of the details concerning the battles that were fought in the area. Cecil has a genuine emotional connection to the French experience during the Great War, and is comfortable sharing his personal views on the long-lasting ramifications of the conflict. I do not speak French, and my son is fairly early in his French language education. Cecil's English speaking skills are excellent, and he took no offense when I tortured the pronunciation of nearly every village and name I spoke out loud. Cecil curated an excellent day-long program that was appropriate for our time-schedule and tailored to our interests in the area. I highly recommend Cecil to any WWI or French history enthusiast.
