Full guided day in Verdun

Reviewed April 23, 2018

Cecil guided my son and me around  Verdun for ww1 sites. Cecil was really helpfull days before the guided day en made suggestion for interesting sites. He was reliable in every steps.  We  original had  planned 5 hours guided tour, but Cecil made everything so interesting and and the tour was extended with 3,5 hour for the same price. Cecil underlined that this was our day  so  were totally free for ad-hoc planning aswell for extended time.  This was a big advantage compared to officilial  guided tours. Cecil was very polite, and friendly.  I really reccomend using cecil for private guide for ww1 sites around Verdun

Meuse/Verdun Tour on April 3, 2018

Reviewed April 10, 2018

Cecil guided my 15 year old son and me on a full-day tour of several sites in and around Verdun, including Vauquois, the American Cemetery at Romagne, the American monument at Montfaucon (as well as the destroyed village adjacent to the monunment), Bayonette Trench, the Douaumont Oussuary and Fort de Vaux.  I was impressed with his in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of the region, as well as his grasp of the details concerning the battles that were fought in the area.  Cecil has a genuine emotional connection to the French experience during the Great War, and is comfortable sharing his personal views on the long-lasting ramifications of the conflict.  I do not speak French, and my son is fairly early in his French language education.  Cecil's English speaking skills are excellent, and he took no offense when I tortured the pronunciation of nearly every village and name I spoke out loud.  Cecil curated an excellent day-long program that was appropriate for our time-schedule and tailored to our interests in the area.  I highly recommend Cecil to any WWI or French history enthusiast.

WW1 Battlefields Verdun France

This day tour was excellent and our guide Cecil was fluent in English and very easy to understand.  Cecil met us promptly at the train station and made our day of adventure and learning fun.  Some of the sites we visted: Verdun Memorial, Douaumont Ossuaire and Douaumont Fort, and the Vaux Fort.  Cecil made each one unique with interesting stories and facts that brought history alive.

I will take another tour with Cecil as guide on my next trip to France.
