Guide, Marcello Torrisi, is the best.  We traveled with him in April to Sicily with Grand Circle.  Not only is Marcello the perfect guide for the region and this particular tour, he is the perfect guide overall.  Marcello has a command of English and the American "culture" that makes him a natural in dealing with all the various personalities and "cultures" of the tour group.  He has a command of the history, culture, mores, art and culinary specialities of each region traveled, which lends a specialness to each excursion.  Marcello is extremely organized but without pressure, able to "read" the needs of members of the group and adjust accordingly.  I  have experienced many tour guides, but Marcello is by far the best.

My husband and I just returned from a fifteen day Grand Circle Travel Land trip to Sicily. The overall excellence of our vacation was primarily based on the quality of our program director-Marcello Torrisi. Daily he went above and beyond, sharing his homeland’s people, culture, traditions, and food with us. He was active, alert, visible, prompt, and available-watching over, counting, and continually checking on every participant. We enjoyed his wit and surprise trips and activities. Thank you so much, Marcello, for all the “extras” and for making our trip the adventure of a lifetime.

Bravo Marcello! Marcello is the best!  He is well informed, funny, insightful, a problem solver, a great linguist and provides a most authentic look at Sicily. He provides little "extras" of local people, food, entertainment and wonderful family stories. if you are lucky you can meet his Mama! He deserves the highest rating!

We loved having Marcello for our Guide a year ago, or was it two already??? with GCT !  Funny and fun, but informative and seemingly, he never sleeps!   Even during his "Down Time" I'd catch him on his phone, huddled into a doorway, making sure that the restaurant or historic museum or cathedral would be ready for our arrival, or he'd be changing last minute travel plans for folks who had an emergency back home.  But, throughout the entire tour, I never saw him lose his cool, nor his always present laugh and smile!  We loved him so much, we invited him to come stay with us on his tour of the East Coast of the U.S. last year!   He taught ME lots about my home town and our surrounding county that even I never knew, though I've lived here for 40 years!

We toured with Marcello in Nov/Dec 2015 and had a wonderful trip. Marcello added so much with his facts and stories. He always went above and beyond with extras -- arranging a special side trip, making sure we celebrated Thanksgiving and the list goes on.
