Everest Base camp
Reviewed November 11, 2018
I had never trekked in my life & when I decided to pursue this trekking hobby, I started it by doing Everest base camp coupled with Kala Patthar . All you need is average good fitness level & mental strength to be able to finish this tough trek with lot of fun. The fact that I did it as a beginner is a good enough reason for you to take this plunge although with structured preparation over 2-3 months.
The EBC trek is spread over 11 nights ( 14 nights if you chose the Gokyo Ri route) 2 nights for acclimatisation at higher up in the valley. The route is picturesque on all days with breath taking views of the majestic mountains with lot of flora & fauna at lower altitudes. The route has many suspension bridges & this adds a lot of charm to the route. The tree houses enroute are good for a night over with limited food options & just about average/below average hygiene in wash areas. Sheras & local people are soft spoken , simple & so hospitable . T his makes life much easier .
once you finish Everest Base Camp, the tendency of most people is to relax & not do Kala Patthar but the real spectacle unfolds when you summit Kala Patthar . The views are simply awesome & out of this world.
The return journey is tough with one covering almost 65 kms of descent in three days flat.
All in all , its an experience of a lifetime in the lap of himalayas !! & I am already longing for more.
Thanks you very much santosh for your kindly help.
