Itinerary
-
Day 1: Hwange National Park / Night Game Drive
Upon arrival at the Victoria Falls Airport, meet your guide/driver and transfer to Hwange Safari lodge - only a two-hour drive on tarred roads.
After check-in, embark on a late afternoon game drive in the Hwange Safari Lodge estate, which borders the Hwange National Park – there are no fences between the main park and this estate. This is a three-hour drive that extends well into the night, and there are good chances of encountering the big cats.
Dinner and overnight at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
-
Day 2: Safari in the Hwange National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for the full day safari in the Hwange National Park using the Main Camp gate. The park is home to over 65,000 elephants who in the dry season dominate all the water points in the afternoons. Other animals that can be seen in the park are lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, buffalos, impalas, kudus, sables, elands, waterbucks, zebras, giraffes, baboons, warthogs and a lot more.
Be back at the lodge at around 4 pm.
Dinner and overnight at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
-
Day 3: Safari in the Hwange National Park
Hwange provides a safari experience to rival the great parks of East Africa - the Serengeti and Masai Mara - but without the crowds. You will have another fun-filled day in the park –now looking for your favourite animal or bird and even ignoring the other now common species. On a good day, you may even return to the lodge earlier as you will have seen all there is to be seen.
Dinner and overnight at the Hwange Safari Lodge.
-
Day 4: Hwange National Park to Victoria Falls
After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls in air-conditioned vans – a two-hour trip.
After check-in, head to Victoria Falls via the big baobab tree for the guided tour. The walk on this 2 km stretch lasts for about two hours.
Pass by the Open Curio Markets for your souvenir shopping.
At 4 pm, transfer to the jetty for the relaxing Zambezi River sunset cruise. Relax with a sun-downer and snacks as you gaze out onto the banks of the river. Have your camera ready to capture one of the amazing sunsets in Africa.
Expect to be back at the Hotel at about 7 pm.
Overnight at the Elephant Hills Resort B/B.
-
Day 5: Full-day Chobe National Park Safari
On this day, you will be collected from your hotel at 7.30 am for the full day safari in the Chobe National Park in Botswana. You do not have to wait until crossing the border into Botswana to start enjoying the game viewing as you will be driving through the Zambezi National Park for 70 km to the Botswana border.
Start the safari with a Game Boat Cruise on the Chobe River. This will be three hours of game viewing from the boat. Have a buffet lunch at the four-star Chobe Safari Lodge.
After lunch, it will be time to take to the Chobe National Park in custom made 4x4 safari vehicles for the three-hour afternoon game drive. Visit the upper Chobe River part that is not accessible by boats. This is where you get to see the shy predators (lions, hyena, cheetah and sometimes leopards) and at times on their kills.
Leave the park at about 4.30 pm for the drive back to Victoria Falls in comfortable air-conditioned minibuses.
Overnight at the Elephant Hills Resort B/B.
