Description
Explore over 400 bird species on this 8-day tour to South Luangwa National Park from Mfuwe. The park is a haven for animals and a photographic wonderland. Dozens of species of kingfishers, eagles, and the famous Carmine bee-eaters can be found here. Go on a walking safari for an exciting way to experience one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Southern Africa.
Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Mfuwe Airport
- Arrive at Mfuwe Airport. You will be met by the Zambian guide personally, who will take you to your lodge or camp to relax and unpack.
- If you arrive in the morning, you will go on an afternoon/night drive together and meet the guide at tea time.
- After a short briefing, you will be on your way!
- Stop at a scenic spot for "sundowners", where you can enjoy a Gin and tonic and have some snacks while watching the gorgeous African sun go down before continuing a night drive!
- Be back at your lodge/camp at around 19:30 / 20:00, maximum, correct in time for dinner!

Day 2: Explore South Luangwa
- On this first full day out, get to know each other more, and the guide will get a good idea of what types of birds interest you the most! The guide will use checklists and review the bird types you want to see.
- Stop at around 09:30 for a lovely tea/coffee and cookies break by the river or in the bush.
- At around 10:30 / 11:00, go back to your lodge/camp so you can enjoy lunch and relax!
- The afternoon/evening drive will start after tea time at around 15:00. The guide will find you at your lodge/camp and make sure everyone is happy to leave at the same time. The afternoon/night drive is also delightful to see birds.
- At 17:30, stop once again for a G & T or drink and snacks at sundown.
- By 20:00 maximum, you will be back in time for dinner!

Day 3: Learn Facts About Birds
- This full day together will be fun and educational! The guide will tell you as many facts about birds as possible, some of which will surprise you!
- The time of 09:30 will be your now usual tea/coffee and cookies break.
- At 10:30 / 11:00, you will be back at your lodge/camp for lunch/siesta.
- Then, 15:00 marks the beginning of the afternoon/night drive.
- At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place at a different location.
- By 20:00 maximum, you will be back "home" on time for dinner!

Day 4: Ask Questions From The Guide
This day will be about what you want to see and your questions for the guide! The guide will try to answer all of them if they can and will delight you with my stories of the bush!
- The time of 9:30 will be the tea/coffee and cookies break.
- At 10:00, you will be back at your lodge/camp to pack and prepare to move to the next lodge after lunch!
- After your meal, you will go to a different lodge to enjoy another side of the Luangwa Valley! You will get to relax for a while before you go out again!
- At 15:00, the usual afternoon/night drive begins.
- At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place - maybe by the river while watching Kingfishers?
- By 20:00 maximum, you will be back at your lodge for dinner!

Day 5: Optional Walking Safari
- Today, the guide offers you the chance to go on a walking safari! Start with a short drive where you will leave the car and continue on foot, accompanied by a scout from the Zambian Wildlife Authority.
- 09:30 will be the now-usual tea/coffee and cookies break. The coffee/tea porter will carry all the necessary water and snacks! All you need to bring is a hat, sunscreen, binoculars, or a camera!
- At 10:30 / 11:00, you will be back at your lodge/camp for lunch/siesta.
- At 15:00, you will be set for another afternoon/night drive.
- By 17:30, it's time for sundowners!
- At 20:00, it is dinner time!

Day 6: Optional Cultural Immersion
- Today can be a regular day in the bush, or the guide offers you the chance to make it a bit different!
- Many children in the Mfuwe area have never been inside the park, even though it is right on their doorstep! You are offered Impact Safaris, during which guests can take 2 to 4 of such children out on drives with them! They will join you either in the morning, in the afternoon, or both, thus giving them the extraordinary opportunity to participate in an activity usually reserved for tourists!
- 09:30 will be the now-usual tea/coffee and cookies break.
- At 10:30 / 11:00, you will be back at your lodge/camp for lunch/siesta.
- If you wish, the guide can pick you up at 12:30 for a 1 hour 30 min village visit around Mfuwe to local craft shops and schools.
- The time 15:00 marks the beginning of our afternoon/night drive.
- At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place at a different location.
- By 20:00 maximum, you will be back "home" on time for dinner!

Day 7: Drives, Sundowners
- Last full day! By then, you will have shared plenty of stories, so you are encouraged to ask as many remaining questions as possible!
- 09:30 will be the now-usual tea/coffee and cookies break.
- At 10:30 / 11:00, you will be back at your lodge/camp for lunch/siesta.
- The time of 15:00 marks the beginning of the afternoon/night drive.
- At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place.
- By 20:00 maximum, you will be back "home" for dinner!

Day 8: Departure
- Depending on what time of day you are leaving, you may be able to enjoy one last game drive together in the morning! In all cases, it would have been a pleasure to meet you, and I hope you will have had a fantastic time in Zambia! The guide will personally take you to the airport!
