- On our way back from Rugova Canyons, we will make a stop at the Orthodox Patriarchate of Peja. The monastery complex, consisting of four churches, three of which are connected as one whole, was built in the first third of the 13th century (1321–24, and 1330–37). It has been protected by UNESCO since 2003, and for more than 300 years, it was protected by a Rugova family bearing the title "voivode."
- Additionally, in today's tour, we will head towards the small city of Deqani and visit the Orthodox Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- We will continue towards Junik for a visit to the Great Tekke.
Then, we will go to Gjakova for an overnight stay at the hotel.
-
Day 3: Gjakova and Prizren Exploration
- After a great breakfast, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and start with a visit to the Grand Bazaar, which is very popular. We will not spend too much time here because we will leave for the beautiful city of Kosovo, Prizren, the cultural capital of Kosovo.
- Once the capital of Kosovo and an important Ottoman trading city, Prizren is buried under the mountains of Sharri. Ottoman vibes can be felt especially around Shadervan – near this main, cobbled square you will find a great selection of bars and restaurants, as well as the lovely Sinan Pasha Mosque.
- Prizren is considered by many as the cultural capital of Kosovo - contemporary and ancient. This mix of old and new makes it one of the must-see stops when visiting Kosovo.
- We will also visit the Old Stone Bridge, which dates back to the 16th century but was reconstructed in the 1980s after it was destroyed by a flood.
- A visit to Prizren castle at sunset will offer magnificent views.
Overnight stay in Prizren!
-
Day 4: Gračanica Monastery and Bear Sanctuary Visit
- After a beautiful day in Prizren, we will return to Pristina, where we will visit the Orthodox Monastery in Gračanica. This architecturally notable monastery with many frescoes was constructed in 1321.
- Additionally, we will visit the Bear Sanctuary in Pristina. All privately kept brown bears lived in small cages at restaurants and were used to attract visitors. Currently, at Bear Sanctuary Pristina, 19 bears all rescued from captivity live. Here they have plenty of space, ponds, and proper meals, and most of all, they are living in harmony with each other.
