Hi! My name is Ralph de la Portilla and I'm a native Miamian who has the inside scoop on pretty much anything you would want to do in Miami. From spending an afternoon in Little Havana, sampling juicy roast suckling pork chunks and hanging out with cigar rollers, to taking a bike ride in South Beach and learning about Art Deco while checking out the hard bodies, "Mr.Miami" (as the local kids jokingly named me when I was 12 years old for constantly spewing out trivial Miami poppycock) is your in-town connection and friend you never even knew you had--sort of like a personal concierge and ambassador to the city that both torments and tantalizes me every day! With over 10 years of experience as a tour guide for NCL, Elderhostel (now Road Scholar), and Barton G, I've conducted countless historical and cultural tours and lectures for small and large groups.Under the tutelage of renowned South Florida historian, Dr.Paul George, my time at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida (now History Miami) included the delivery of dozens of customized South Florida history lessons for thousands of local kids visiting the museum over the span of my three years there. Aside from my experience as a guide and a museum docent, my background in the performing arts, nightlife and live event production spans over a decade.I also worked for the US Census Bureau for five years here in Miami, so statistically, I've got you covered...I'm currently a student at Florida International University seeking advanced degrees in Public Relations and Travel & Tourism Management.
