Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will be picked up from the International airport at Entebbe.
Start your early morning journey towards the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Drive southwest and across the Equator through savannah grasslands, banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. Then, ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the "Switzerland of Africa", with terraced farming and mountain scenery.
Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the evening. Check in at your accommodation and stay the night.
-
Day 2: Go for Gorilla Trekking
- After an early breakfast and a briefing by the ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savoured.
- Spot gorillas eating and playing while you trek all the way through the park. Observe other wildlife species inhabiting the forest as well.
-
Day 3: Relaxed boat ride in Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is believed to be the second deepest lake in Africa. Lake Bunyonyi is a body of water in southwestern Uganda near the Rwandan border. Its 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water make it the most magical and the view reinvents itself every hour or two with the ever-changing climate and direction of the sun.
In the early morning, observe the islands which weave through cotton candy-like streams of mist and, in the afternoon, they’re bathed in the warm glow of the sun. Later, they’re silhouetted against a dim sky as evening approaches.
Enjoy a calm boat trip through some of the islands on this lake. You can even explore a few of these islands during the boat trip, as per your choice.
-
Day 4: Departure
Leave the Bwindi Impenetrable National park and drive back to Entebbe with en route sightseeing including the Kampala city for souvenir shopping.
