Day 1: Arusha to Kilimanjaro National Park
- After breakfast, you will be driven about 2hrs40 from Arusha to Moshi town, then proceed to Machame gate. Machame Gate is situated in the remote megacity of Machame at the southern foothills of Mountain Kilimanjaro. The journey crosses the village of Machame, located on the mountain's lower slopes. Sign-in procedures occur at the gate, so you will be registered and allowed to get in and start hiking.
- The gate is at the point of the park’s montane forest though trees do not surround the outside area. You will have a company of a porter, cook, nurse and guide; whereby all of them will pack beneficial properties when hiking. We then leave the Machame gate and walk through the rainforest on a winding trail up the ridge. Sometimes the trail can be muddy and slippery, so trekking poles are necessary. The trekking will continue ascending along the forest trails to Machame Camp at 2980m, where we will stay overnight.
- You shall have dinner and overnight at Machame Camp habitat- FB.
-
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
- On this day, you will be served breakfast, then start the next trekking trip to Shira Camp, leaving the rainforest behind. It is termed a heath zone as the attractive lobelia are the only plants dominating the mountain landscape. Various geological features can be seen, ranging from the lava tubes to glacial valleys.
- The trekking ascends abroad, crossing a small valley to a steep rocky ridge. The trek is steep as you enter the low alpine zone characterized by grasslands and moorlands.
- The route then directs us to the west into the river gorge until we reach Shira Camp. This place is where we shall get dinner and overnight, particularly at Shira Camp- FB.
-
Day 3: Shira Camp – Barranco Camp
- The whole trekking period of this day’s trek is a bit long and arduous. We will ascend into the Alpine desert towards the central peak of Kibo, where the western glacier becomes visible.
- On this day, we will climb up to 3950m to the base of the Lava Tower, where you will get lunch, also unique for acclimatization. The trek will leave the east, passing the Shira plateau up to Lava Tower, and after, we will descend to Barranco Camp. The Camp is situated in a valley below the breach, and Great Barranco Wall; the Barranco Valley is one of the most beautiful areas of the entire trail.
- After trekking, you will camp at Barranco for dinner and overnight, particularly at Barranco Camp- FB.
-
Day 4: Barranco Camp – Karanga Valley Camp
- After breakfast, you will experience the complex task of climbing the top of Karanga Valley via the Barranco wall. Barranco Wall gives a hard time for trekkers because it needs skills, energy and compassion to complete it. Because the area toward the Karanga valley is edged, you can be forced to use your four limbs when climbing. Right from this point, you will follow the way that passes through many inclines and declines to Karanga Valley Camp. Karanga Valley camp is the stopover for the six-day trekkers who ascend to the other path back to the initial point after reaching the area—dinner and overnight, particularly at Karanga Valley Camp- FB.
-
Day 5: Karanga Valley – Barafu Camp
- Breakfast then proceed with the hike and because you will alredy have reached at Karanga Valley camp you shall be left with a short distance towards Barafu Camp. - While preparing for the next trek towards the summit, we shall have dinner and overnight in this area, particularly at Barafu Camp- FB.
-
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka
- As per recommendations, you will be woken up at around 11:30 Pm and be served tea and a cookie. The activity that follows after is to trek towards the summit between the Rebman and Ratzel glaciers.
- While trekking to the summit, the criteria say, ' one step at a time and remember to keep your momentum moving forward.’ It takes 8hrs to reach the top of the crater rim with a sign for Stella Point. The point indicates that you still have another 156 meters of altitude to walk around the Crater rim to Uhuru Peak. After reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro (5,895m), relax for some time while enjoying the view at the summit and gaining energy, then start descending to Mweka Camp. Trekking poles will be needed for loose scree heading down to Mweka Camp to avoid gruelling on your joints.
