Day 01
Sunrise Balloon Excursion Over the Serengeti
Pre-Flight Briefing and Preparation:
- Guides brief you the night before the flight.
- Sign the waiver form.
- Early morning pick-up by your guide from camp or lodge between 4 am and 5 am.
- Arrival at the launch area by approximately 6 am.
- Pilot briefing on safety measures, launch and landing procedures, and what to expect.
Flight Experience:
- Planned takeoff around 6:30 am, subject to weather conditions.
- Boarding takes place while the basket is on its side.
- The basket stands upright just before takeoff.
- Enjoy a great African sunrise shortly after elevation, weather permitting.
- Take in a bird's-eye, uninterrupted view of the Serengeti's vast plains.
- The pilot attempts to spot wildlife and adjusts altitude for better viewing.
- Flight duration is typically around 1 hour +/- 15 minutes, depending on the weather.
- Opportunity to enjoy hot coffee during the flight.
Landing and Post-Flight Activities:
- Landing depends on the landscape and wind speeds.
- There may be a few bumps or tipping over, but landings are usually smooth.
- Champagne celebration upon disembarking, along with a brief history of the tradition.
- Transfer to a carefully selected bush breakfast area.
- A warm welcome by the team to enjoy a scrumptious plated breakfast.
- Certificates are issued after breakfast.
- Return to your accommodation or the nearest airstrip to meet your safari guide for further activities.
