Itinerary

1. Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve

   • You will be picked up from your hotel/Airport in Dar es Salaam. Then, drive for 4 hours towards the Selous Game Reserve.
   • Arrive at the Hippocamp in time for lunch, or if arriving late, just have some light refreshments. In case of early arrival, you can also do a game drive/boat safari.
   • Nestled within the woodland along the banks of the great Rufiji River, enjoy a sunset cruise in our comfortable rooms, watching for hippos, crocodiles and birds, and watch the spectacular sunset view over this enormous river. 

   Have dinner and stay the night at your camp. 

2. Day 2: Game drive inside Selous Game Reserve

   • After breakfast in the morning, enjoy a full-day game drive through a modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Indulge in great animals sightings, including lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebra and other major species such as the rare African hunting dog. You will also see a large variety of birds, wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains.
   • In the afternoon, your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink while you can have your packed lunch and take some time to rest. 

   Have dinner and stay the night at Selous Jimbiza camp.

3. Day 3: Selous to Iringa Town

   • After breakfast early in the morning, drive from Selous Game Reserve by jeep towards the Iringa town via Morogoro town. You will pass through the countryside where you can enjoy scenic views of beautiful valleys and mountains. 
   • Have your packed lunch on the way and arrive at Iringa town during the night. 

   Stay the night at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.

4. Day 4: Game drive in Ruaha National Park

   • After breakfast at the lodge/hotel, go for a full day game drive at the Ruaha National Park with your packed lunch boxes.
   • Between two rivers, Njombe to the north and Ruaha to the east, the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its entire eastern border, creates spectacular gorges and features a large number of hippos. The park supports several antelope species that are uncommon in Tanzania, such as the greater kudu, sable, roan and crocodiles. Spot these species on your game drives.

   Stay the night at the Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.

5. Day 5: Game drive at Ruaha National Park

   • Go for another full-day game drive with your packed lunch boxes. 
   • Spend the day discovering and exploring Ruaha National Park, where you can choose among activities like game drive or walking safari. The park is also known for its sable and roan antelopes, herds of more than 10,000 elephants, vast concentrations of buffalo, gazelle and over 400 bird species. 
   • Return to the lodge and stay the night. 

6. Day 6: Ruaha to Dar es Salaam

   • Start your journey for Dar es Salaam and arrive in the late afternoon. Breakfast and a lunch box will be provided on the way.
   • You can either return to your hotel or go to the airport for departure to Zanzibar.
