Itinerary
-
Day 1 - Tarangire National Park
- After breakfast, depart to Tarangire National Park. It has a diverse landscape with nine distinct vegetation zones. The ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in Africa) overshadow the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River attracts abundant wildlife, from elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes to various colourful birds. The park is famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania.
- During a safari, you will have the chance to quietly observe many families of elephants interacting, with a stop for an amazing picnic lunch at an observatory inside the park where you will be able to spot animals drinking water in the river (and many times lions attacking a thirsty zebra or wildebeest).
We will get back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
-
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
- Pick up from your hotel and embark on a beautiful journey across the Great Rift Valley to the famous Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game viewing. Although small in dimension, the park has breathtaking scenery. It is famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and huge mahogany trees, and a growing population of baboons blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas and a large number of buffaloes. The lake is also home to a huge number of hippos.
- Some unique things about this park include the tree climbing lions, flamingos in the lakeshore, and the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle. The landscapes of Lake Manyara can not be described in words. The game drives along the lake provide beautiful photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the flamingos in the lake background. During this day, some extra tours are possible, including a bike tour.
Dinner and overnight.
-
Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater
- After breakfast, descend 600 m into this magnificent crater for a morning game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the densest African wildlife areas globally and houses an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last black rhinos. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a wide variety of animals, including herds of wildebeests, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippos, and giant African elephants. Another big drawcard to this beautiful national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopards, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater.
- Later slowly head out of the crater and drive toward Arusha town.
