Explore the Highlights in Marangu
- Meet the tour guide at 8 am in the morning and drive to Marangu Gate (1900m), the starting point for all Kilimanjaro treks via the Marangu Route. The local tour guide will assist you in taking pictures of the mighty Kilimanjaro and getting a sense of the spirit of the mountain.
- Take a stroll around Marangu upon reaching, and head to the home of the local Chagga tribe. Learn all about their history and traditions.
- Make the second stop at a small coffee farm, where you will learn how the coffee is grown, harvested and processed locally. Try processing, roasting and preparing a fresh cup of coffee.
- Depart for the Ndoro Waterfalls. The hike to the waterfall's base is filled with lush green landscape, and the descent takes approximately 1 hour. Get an opportunity to relax and take a refreshing bath in the waterfall's plunge pool.
- Visit the Chagga Underground Caves and the Chagga Live Museum. The tour guide will briefly discuss the underground cave system and why it was built.
- Go for a gastronomical adventure and taste some traditional Chagga meals from a local restaurant. Also, get a chance to taste local spirits like Banana beer and wine.
- Return to your stay.
