Itinerary

1. Day 1 - Moshi to Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village

   • Meet your Arusha tour guide and drive to Olpopongi in the West Kilimanjaro region. Olpopongi is 74 kilometres from Moshi. The two-hour drive will take you through the beautiful outback of West Kilimanjaro. Depending on the season, you can see games like zebras and elephants. On clear days, you will have amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
   • Reach Olpopongi before lunchtime and be welcomed by the local Maasai with a traditional welcome song and dance. 
   • Walk around the village, and you will check in your hut. 
   • Visit the precious little museum, where you will learn about the history, social organization and tools of the Maasai people.
   • Have a sumptuous traditional Tanzanian lunch and proceed for an exciting afternoon.
   • Visit a midwife and herbalist in one of the huts later in the afternoon and learn about everyday life in a Maasai village.
   • Take a short break to savour tea or coffee or indulge in some jewellery shopping.
   • Discover endemic plants and their usage as you bushwalk around the village.
   • Round up your day with a fire-making session, bbq and bonfire.

   Overnight stay in an authentic Maasai boma (hut).

2. Day 2 - Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village to Moshi

   • Wake up and have breakfast set for you in the morning. 
   • Click photographs of this unique village and the people you met during your trip as you bid adieu and drive back to Moshi.
   • Reach Moshi around lunchtime.
