Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
In the morning, transfer to Tarangire National Park, whose hilly terrain is dotted with a thousand baobab trees. It is home to large elephant herds as well as big herds of zebras and wildebeest between the months of June to October. The park has great sightings of big cats and a host of baobab trees dotting the park landscape. Tarangire River, which runs through this area, offers the sole permanent source of water to the different birds and animals.
Overnight at Sun Bright Camp.
-
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
Following breakfast, transfer to Lake Manyara National Park with your Tanzanian safari guide. There is a profusion of wildlife in this small national park, and the amazing bird watching experience will certainly be rewarding to both devote and first-time bird watchers. It is as well among the few places on the African continent to see the tree-climbing lions that will be your main quest for the day. Manyara, in addition, provides a large flock of beautiful pink flamingos found in the lake.
Have lunch at the picnic site. The park has good sightings of elephants, hippos, giraffes, and a great variety of raptors.
Overnight at Panorama Campsite.
-
Day 3: Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater
Following your breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, which is the 8th natural wonder in the world. You will drive through the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area—a place where you will see the local Maasai people graze their livestock alongside the freely roaming wild animals.
Arrive at the edge of the crater and then descend 2,000 ft into the huge caldera. This splendid natural amphitheatre has the highest concentration of wild animals across Africa. You will see lions, elephants as well as the uncommon black rhino. Since the crater has short grasses, the animals can easily be seen and may even be approached closely.
You will spend the morning at the bottom of the crater watching the wildlife in this World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon, you will proceed to the hippo picnic site for lunch, and thereafter you will do some game viewing.
Later, transfer back to the city of Arusha with your Tanzanian safari guide.
