Description
Climb the slopes of the highest mountain in Africa to the first base camp of the Marangu route. With 5895 meters, Kilimanjaro is an impressive and incredible sight, which most visitors already spot in amazement when flying in at Kilimanjaro airport. The rainforest zone of Kilimanjaro is thick and lush and home to many different bird and monkey species, such as blue monkeys or colobus. Tarangire National Park awaits you with its mighty baobab trees, colossal elephant population and animal and landscape diversity that steals the heart of every traveller. This day trip leaves you wanting to see more and more of Africa's rich wildlife.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Day Hike
Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Rising(ft): (1,800m/5,905ft) to (2,743m/9,000ft)
Hiking time: 8-10 hours
Elevation Gain: 915 meters, 3,000 feet- Hiker(s) will leave Moshi early in the morning to Marangu Gate. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. After completing gate registration, you will begin your Kilimanjaro day hike. Walking along a narrow trail through the rainforest of Kilimanjaro up to Mandara Hut you will meet mountain climbers descending from the top of Kilimanjaro.
- At Mandara Hut you will have your lunch and the possibility to take a short walk to the Maundi Crater. The views to the East over Taveta and to the Northwest to Mawenzi Peak are stunning on a clear day, making the short hike well worth the effort. You will then have the opportunity to take photos once arriving at Maundi Crater before descending down to the Marangu Gate.O
- ur vehicles will be waiting at Marangu Gate to take you back to Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi to Tarangire National Park
- We will leave from Moshi in the early hours of the day and drive to Tarangire National Park where huge termite mounds and ancient baobab trees waiting for us. This park is renowned for their immense elephant population, their picturesque scenery and diverse bird life. Tarangire has an enticing wildlife that includes elephants, lions, giraffe, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetah, mongoose, buffaloes and baboons. When our game drive comes to an end, we will proceed back to Arusha.
