Itinerary

1. Day 1: Machame Gate - Machame Camp

   Early in the morning, you will drive to Machame Gate, taking almost 50 minutes to reach the park gate. Upon arrival at Machame Gate, your guide will handle the registration. After completing the registration, you will begin your ascent through the dense rain montane forest on a ridge until you reach Machame Camp.

2. Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira 2 Camp

   Early in the morning, after breakfast at Machame Camp, you will start trekking up to the second high-altitude camp (3750). On this day, you will emerge from the rainforest and enjoy stunning views of the Shira plateau. You will pass through the heather and open moorland before reaching Shira 2 Camp. Upon arrival at the camp, you will have lunch and dinner.

3. Day 3: Shira Camp 2 - Lava Tower - Barranco Camp

   Early in the morning, after breakfast at Shira 2 Camp (3750), you will continue to the east, ascending a ridge and heading southeast towards the Lava Tower, a 4630 ft tall volcanic rock formation. You will then descend to Barranco Camp through the strange but beautiful Senecio Forest, reaching an altitude of 13,000 ft. Here, you will rest, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight to acclimatize.

4. Day 4: Barranco Camp - Karanga Camp

   You will wake up early in the morning at Barranco Camp, located at an elevation of around 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). You will continue your ascent toward Karanga Camp, passing through rocky terrain. Upon reaching the camp, you will be served a warm lunch. After a couple of hours, you will complete your ascent to Barafu Camp (4,640 m) where you will have a hot dinner.

5. Day 5: Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp

   You will leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. You will continue up to the rocky section to Barafu Hut. Here, you have completed the Southern Circuit, offering views of the summit from many different angles. You will make camp, rest, enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are viewable from this position.

6. Day 6: Barafu Camp - Uhuru Peak

   Early in the morning, after breakfast at Barafu Camp, you will continue to climb north-western towards Stella Point on the crater rim. Upon reaching Stella Point (5685m), you will stop for a short rest and witness a magnificent sunrise. Finally, you will arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. After spending a few moments taking in the plains of Africa, you will descend to Horombo Hut. Later in the evening, you will enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and get some well-earned rest.

7. Day 7: Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate - Moshi/Arusha

   After breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will descend through the lush rainforest. The trail winds its way down, gradually descending through lower altitudes. You will continue your descent to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. After saying goodbye to the mountain, a vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha.

8. Day 8: Moshi - Arusha

   Early in the morning, you will be picked up by Kitano Tours and Safari driver, who will drive you to Arusha. You will then be transferred to your hotel. You will have time to rest and prepare for the Tanzania safari starting the next day.

9. Day 9: Arusha - Tarangire National Park

   Once you arrive in Tarangire, you will explore this natural wonder and its wildlife. This park is renowned for its diverse bird species and extensive population of elephants, lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetahs, mongooses, buffaloes, and mischievous baboons. After viewing the wildlife in Tarangire, you will have dinner and overnight at the camp.

10. Day 10: Tarangire - Serengeti National Park

    After breakfast at Manyara/Mto wa Mbu, you will continue your journey to Serengeti National Park. This park is known for its great wildebeest migration and abundant wildlife, including the "big five" (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino). After a game drive in the park, you will spend the night and have dinner in Serengeti.

11. Day 11: Serengeti - Ngorongoro

    Early in the morning, after breakfast in Serengeti, you will continue to enjoy a game drive in the park. You will be able to witness the great migration and see other wildlife species. After a few hours, you will descend to Ngorongoro Crater, known for its rich wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and rhinos. After viewing the wildlife in Ngorongoro Crater, you will spend the night and have dinner in Ngorongoro.

12. Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater - Moshi/Arusha

    After breakfast at Ngorongoro Crater, you will continue a game drive in the crater, offering the chance to view wildlife like lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and other species. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the world's largest uninterrupted caldera and one of Africa's natural wonders. After finishing the game drive, you will have the opportunity to visit the Maasai culture. Once the day's activities are complete, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
