Start your exciting hiking tour from Machame Gate, enjoying the beautiful and unique flora along the way. On your ascent to Peak Kibo, enjoy the captivating view of the western glaciers and Mawenzi Peak's beauty from Barafu Hut. Climb up to Shira Cave to witness a magical sunrise from Kibo Point, the highest point in the continent, followed by a camp stay at Mweka Gate. Also, admire the captivating geological features of the old volcanic caldera on a half-hour optional walk.
Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at the hotel in Moshi
- Arrive in Moshi and check in to the hotel.

Day 2: Tour Starts from Moshi to Machame Gate
- From Moshi, you will be driven to the Machame Gate, through a route often called the 'Whiskey Route.'
- From the Machame Park gate, start the gentle climb through the original montane forest, carpeted with unique flowers and ferns.
- The first camp is at 3,000 meters, followed by a climb of 1,200 meters and 5 to 6 hours of walking.

Day 3: Hike to Shira Camp
- After you come out of the heather zone, hike through the open moorland to the camp close to the Shira caves at 3,840 meters and watch out for fascinating geological features in the old volcanic caldera, which can be viewed during a half-hour optional walk in the afternoon.
- Start the climb again, which continues for another 840 meters taking around 4 to 5 hours of walking.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Valley
- From Shira Cave camp, climb towards the Peak Kibo and enjoy the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders.
- Descend into the sheltered Barranco Valley for mid-way camp at 3,950m. It's around 6 to 7 hours of climb.

Day 5: Barranco Valley to Barafu Hut
- Climb up the steep Barranco walls with some sections that are much easier.
- Start the descent to the Karanga Valley, where you take a break for lunch.
- Post lunch, start the hike to Barafu Hut, which is at 4,600 meters. Once you are there at the top, enjoy the fantastic views of Mawenzi Peak from the camp.
- Relax for the remaining part of the day.

Day 6: Adventure at Kibo Point
- Brace for a climb through the steep frozen terrain through Gillman’s Point, and reach Stella Point on the crater rim to catch the stunning sunrise views.
- In another 40 minutes, you will be at the highest point in the continent (Kibo Point:5900 meters), which is usually warm during sunshine.
- Begin the Mweka descent route that includes an ascent of 1,300 meters and about a 7-hour trek to the summit; then a descent of 2,600 meters and a 6-7 hours trek to the Mweka campsite above Mweka gate.

Day 7: Last descent before the tour ends
- From Mweka campsite, climb down through the forest to Mweka gate (depending on individual fitness) and collect certificates.
- Get on the vehicle that will take you back to your hotel in Moshi for an overnight stay.
