6-Day Kilimanjaro Hike to Uhuru Peak via the Machame Route

• Have breakfast at the hotel and depart for Machame Gate to begin your Kilimanjaro route. Along the way, explore traditional local villages, coffee plantations, and the scenic beauty of the area.

• After reaching the gate, the team will assemble your gear while you register with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities.

• Meet and get to know the rest of your support team, including our friendly chefs.

• Begin your first trekking experience toward Machame Camp. Catch glimpses of wild animals and exotic plant species as you move through moss-covered forest underpasses.

• Stop and admire the view of Mount Kilimanjaro's mighty summit, Kibo Peak.

Stay overnight in camp.

• Wake up on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, gather your gear, and carry plenty of water to kick-start the day.

• Enjoy a panorama of lush forest canopies towering above, vast golden savannah plains below, and views of the jagged volcanic peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo.

• After lunch, climb the lava-filled Shira Plateau and hike along its arid pathways.

• Watch the vegetation shrink as you ascend higher on Kilimanjaro, including the exotic Lobelia Deckenii and the Senecio dwarf shrub.

• Finish the day at Shira Camp, where you can rest and recuperate for the next part of your exciting journey.

• Encounter the most varied and rewarding stretch so far as you hike eastwards toward the gorgeous Shira Plateau along ever-steeper terrain.

• The highlight of your day is approaching Lava Tower, an incredible 300-foot-tall volcanic plug that transforms into a looming passageway.

• Then take a rapid descent toward Barranco Camp, famous for being the most scenic campsite on the route.

• Set up for the night surrounded by massive valley walls and the stunning Kibo massif.

• View spectacular glaciers draped with sunlight while you enjoy a hot, steaming meal.

• Start your morning with an invigorating 90-minute climb up Barranco Wall, also known as the Breakfast Wall, before descending into the gorgeous green territories of the Karanga Valley.

• Survey the spectacular vistas of bleached glaciers and gleaming shards of light on the journey near the Heim, Kersten, and Decken Glaciers.

• Continue toward the bronzed peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi, arriving in time for dinner.

• At midnight, you'll rise to begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point. Journey amid gleaming glaciers to Stella Point while the sun rises, illuminating the amazing peaks of the summit.

• Confront the final hours of your unforgettable journey as you stand on the rooftop of Africa. You'll experience a sense of exhilaration as you look down over the swirling cloudscape and oceans of ice.

• Celebrate with your team as you soak in the atmosphere before returning to Barafu Camp for a hot, steaming breakfast.

• Arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy your night under the stars.

• Have breakfast and stroll toward Mweka Gate through gorgeous forest scenery draped in clouds and mist.

• Rest and freshen up before travelling to Kilimanjaro Airport.
