Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arusha to Machame Gate to Machame Camp

   • After breakfast, drive to Machame gate.

   • After getting the permit for entrance and meeting the team (guides, cook, and porters), weigh the luggage, and start trekking for 5 hours to Machame camp. The zone is forest till near the camp. If the weather is clear, get wonderful views of the summit of  Kilimanjaro.

   Stay overnight at the camp in the tent with a full board.

2. Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3840 m)

   • After breakfast, proceed to Shira camp. The zone is savannah and steep for some parts.

   • If the weather is clear, get wonderful views of Kibo, Mount Meru, and Mawenzi mountain. The walking takes 4-4.5 hours, with hot lunch at the camp.

   Overnight at the camp in the tent with full board accommodation.

3. Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3950 m)

   • After breakfast, move to Barranco camp. The zone is savannah one part; the other part is desert.

   • Before arriving at the camp, go past Lava tower (4600m) to acclimatize. Take hot lunch before descending towards the camp. 

   • If the weather is clear, get wonderful views of Kibo, Mount Meru, and Mawenzi mountain. The walking takes 6-7 hours, with hot lunch at the camp.

   Overnight at the camp in the tent with full board accommodation.

4. Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp (4600 m)

   • After breakfast, proceed towards Barafu camp. The zone is desert, steep in some parts.

   • It takes 3 hours to reach Barafu camp.

   • Have hot lunch at the camp.

   Overnight at the camp in the tent with full board accommodation.

5. Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

   • After dinner, sleep early.

   • Wake up at midnight for the final preparation and take a cup of tea with a biscuit.

   • Begin to walk slowly.

   • Since the area is steep, climb in a zigzag motion for 6-7 hours to reach the summit.

   • Enjoy the wonderful view of the sunrise, see Mawenzi mountain, Usambaa mountain & Mount Meru.

   • After spending some time at the summit, go back to camp (3-4h for descent) for a short break and take a full breakfast.

   • Pack everything, and continue to descend (4h to Mweka camp).

   Overnight at camp with full board accommodation.

6. Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1700m)

   • After breakfast, depart towards Mweka gate to meet the driver for transfer back to the hotel.

   • Certificates for those who reached the summit. The descent takes 3-3.5 hours, with full board.
