Itinerary

1. Day 1: Moshi to Miriakamba Hut

   • Drive from Moshi to Momella Gate (1500 m), where the climb begins.

   • Walk through the grassy plains to see occasional views of Mount Kilimanjaro to your right.

   • After a few hours of trekking, you will reach the first campsite, Miriakamba Hut (2500 m). Here you will settle in a dormitory-style room, rest for the day.

   Trekking Time: 4-5 hours | Distance: 10 km | Altitude Gain: 1000 m.

2. Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

   • Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and begin your trek into fine forests as you head to the Saddle Hut (3500 m), where you will spend the evening and rest.

   • In the afternoon, relax in the hut or go on a one-hour trek to Little Meru (3801 m), where you will see the beautiful views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the sunset.

   Trekking Time: 3-4 hours | Distance: 8 km | Altitude Gain: 1000 m

3. Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit Day to Back to Moshi

   • Wake up at 1:00 AM in the mid-night, have breakfast and start to ascend towards the summit. 

   • Upon arrival at the Rhino point (3800 m), the trek becomes more difficult as you encounter rocky ground and narrow ridges.

   • Reach the summit (4,566 m) on time for sunrise; there is a possibility to see Kilimanjaro Peak above the clouds. Descend the peak.

   • Take a short rest and brunch at Saddle Hut before continuing to the Momella gate. Get your certification of completion here.

   • Depart from Momella gate to Moshi.
