Itinerary
-
Day 1: Transfer to town of Arusha
On arrival, be greeted by your professional guide.
Embark on a 1-hour drive to your beautiful Ilboru Safari Lodge on the slope of Mount Meru and the outskirts of Arusha town for dinner and overnight.
-
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
After an early breakfast, enter Lake Manyara National Park, one of the most popular and attractive national parks. For a relatively small area in size, it contains a variety of habitat and diverse animals and birds.
Lake Manyara is also famous for its tree-climbing lions and numerous migratory birds. It is a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.
Enjoy game viewing within the northern part of the park.
Dinner and overnight Lake Manyara Hotel/Lake Manyara Serena or similar.
-
Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here, the route follows along the Great Rift valley, beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and Ngorongoro Conservation area and crater rim, passing Malanja Depression towards Olduvai Gorge, where we will visit the museum.
Visit the museum featuring the famous Zinj skull, the Zinjanthropus man of 1.8 million years ago, whose remains was found here by Dr Leakey.
After picnic lunch, enter the Serengeti National Park and drive towards Seronera River Valley, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Dinner at Seronera Wildlife Lodge, Serengeti Serena Hotel or Luxury Camp.
-
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch.
Serengeti contains about 4 million different types of animals including the big five; Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, Lion and the Elephant.
In afternoon, drive to follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes that usually attract a number of lion and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink.
Dinner and overnight at Seronera Wildlife Loddge, Serengeti Serena Hotel or Luxury Camp.
-
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti.
Later, with picnic lunches head off via Simba Kopjes, Naabi Hill Gate to drive towards conversation Area.
Stop at Masai Village before proceeding to the crater rim to enjoy stupendous view of crater from the top.
Stop on the crater rim to enjoy one of the most memorable picnic lunches in your life.
Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge, Nrongoro Serena Hotel, Ngorongoro Farm House, Kirurumu Ngorongoro or Luxury Camp.
-
Day 6: Ngorongoro to Arusha
After early morning breakfast, descend to the crater floor with picnic lunches for a full day crater tour.
With year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, lions, and the ever-elusive leopard.
Visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of Ngorongoro crater. Hippos, flamingos, and water birds can be spotted around this area.
In the evening, drive back to Arusha Town for your accommodation at Ilboru Safari Lodge.
