Itinerary

1. Day 1 - Arusha - Momela - Mariakamba Hut

   • Meet your mountain guide at your hotel in Arusha at 9:30 am. You will drive for about 1 hour to Mount Meru Momela gate and start hiking for 4 hours with a picnic lunch to Mariakamba Hut at 8,500 ft., where you will have dinner and overnight.

2. Day 2 - Miriakamba to Saddle Hut

   • After breakfast, you will start hiking for  4 to 5 hours to Saddle Hut at 11,500 ft. Enjoy your picnic lunch on the way. From here, the clients can hike for 2 hours to Little Mount Meru for a scenic view of the "Roof of Africa", Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.

3. Day 3 - Saddle Hut - Mount Meru Summit - Momela

   • Have a coffee at 1:00 am, then start hiking for 4.5 hours to the Mount Meru summit. Arrive at the summit at 5:30 am, awaiting sunrise. From the summit, descend back to Saddle Hut at 11,500 ft. for lunch. After lunch, descend to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

4. Day 4 - Miriakamba - Momela gate- Arusha

   • After breakfast, proceed with your morning trekking to Momella gate and enjoy your lunch en route. You have two routes as options. Route 1 is a straight descent to Momella Gate. It takes about 3 hours. Route 2 is a scenic route through the Meru Crater, down the Montane forest, and ending at Momella gate. It takes about 6 hours.
   • After collecting your certificate, drive from Momella gate to your hotel and expect to arrive around 4 pm.
