Itinerary

1. Day 0: Arrival at Dar es Salaam

   • Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and driven to the hotel for rest.
   • Dinner and overnight stay at Mediterraneo Hotel.

2. Day 1: Dar es Salaam To Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

   • After early morning breakfast, you must collect your belongings and be ready to start your memorable safari. The safari will start with the drive to Nyerere National Park (before it was known as Selous Game Reserve). Even though Nyerere comes from the division of parks from Selous Game Reserve, currently, it is the largest national park, covering over 31,000 sq km. What will also surprise you is that despite its large size, Nyerere National Park gets relatively few visitors, meaning you won’t come across many other vehicles on your daily game drives. Lunch will be served en route. Upon arrival, you will go on a two to three-hour evening boat safari, bringing you into close contact with hippos, crocodiles, and fantastic bird life. Crocodiles glide into the water as your boat approaches, and hippos appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

   Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

   Dinner and overnight stay will be at Selous Mapumzino Camp.

3. Day 2 & 3: Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

   • You will have a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve). Exploration of the Reserve will be by a 4WD vehicle, which allows you to have an excellent photographic opportunity and explore different sections of the vast park. The park is famous for its Elephants, but commonly seen animals are lions, wild dogs, buffalo, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebra, wildebeest and greater kudu. Later, you may return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

   Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

   Dinner and overnight stay will be at Selous Mapumzino Camp.

4. Day 4: Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

   • Early risers are rewarded with a hot but delicious African coffee, and then we depart with lunch boxes for a game drive. You will have a bush lunch within the picnic sites in the park followed by a little game drive before returning to the camp, where you will prepare yourself for a 2-3 hours boat safari at Rufiji River. What a way of ending the day with sunset glowing over you while passing by the crocodile and hippopotamus as they leisurely roam around the river.

   Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

   Dinner and overnight will be at Selous Mapumzino Camp.

5. Day 5: Selous - Dar es Salaam - Zanzibar

   • After a hot African breakfast, you pack your things and leave for Dar es Salaam with a picnic lunch. Upon arrival, the driver will take you to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar.
   • After arrival in Zanzibar, you will be picked up from the airport and then driven to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

   Dinner and overnight stay at Amaani Beach bungalow.

6. Day 6 and 7: Zanzibar

   • During these days, you will get a chance to enjoy the beach and get to relax and relieve all your safari fatigue in the hotel. It is your individual space and free time at the beach hotel, where you can plan to do anything independently. There are different activities such as water sports that you can enjoy.

   Dinner and overnight stay at Aamani Beach bungalow.

7. Day 8: Zanzibar - Dar es Salaam

   • After morning breakfast, you will collect all your belongings and then drive to the airport back to Dar es Salaam to catch your flight back home.
