Itinerary
-
Day 1- Göbeklitepe-Archaeology Museum
- We start our journey from Göbeklitepe, which is considered to be the oldest temple in the world. The place we will explore is only 10% discovered, while the other 90% awaits discovery.
- Then, we will visit the largest Archaeology Museum in the Southeastern Anatolia region, where we will see around 74,000 artifacts displayed in 14 exhibition halls. Our first day concludes with this tour.
-
Day 2- Karahantepe-Soğmatar-Harran
- We start our second day with Karahantepe, Soğmatar, and Harran. Karahantepe began its first excavations in 2019 and is still ongoing.
- Due to the similarity of the findings to the ones in Göbeklitepe and their close proximity in terms of history, we can call it the twin of Göbeklitepe.
- Next, we visit Soğmatar, an ancient settlement and a place considered the center of paganism in history.
- Then we move on to Harran, exploring the excavation site there, the historical remains of the first Islamic university, and the unique beehive-shaped houses of Harran. This concludes our second day.
-
Day 3- Old Halfeti on the Euphrates river-Balıklı Göl(fish lake)-Prophet Abraham cave-Grand Bazaar
- On our third day, we will take a boat tour in the submerged part of the old Halfeti district after the construction of the dam on the Euphrates River, located 100 km away from the center of Şanlıurfa.
- Then, we will return to Şanlıurfa and visit the place where Prophet Abraham was thrown into the fire and the famous Balıklı Göl (Fish Lake) believed to be sacred.
- After exploring the cave where Prophet Abraham was born, we will conclude our tour by visiting the historic bazaar in Şanlıurfa dating back to the Ottoman period.
