Itinerary

1. Day 1: Chahbania, Chenini, Ksar Ghilane & Zmela

   • Meet your tour guide at the Djerba airport and have a coffee as they tell you about the day's itinerary. 

   • Head to the picturesque salt lake of Chahbania and stroll through the alleys of the Tataouine market nearby, famous for its patisserie 'les cornes de gazelle'.

   • Walk to Chenini, a Berber village and stop for a hearty lunch in a local restaurant.

   • Leave the tarmac and walk on tracks for about 2-hours into the Tunisian desert.

   • Arrive at Ksar Ghilane. Enjoy a relaxing swim in its famous hot spring.

     • Optionally, ride a quad or dromedary in the dunes.

   • Head to the Zmela camp to view one of the most beautiful sunsets. 

   • Attend a demonstration of the production of sand bread (bread baked in the embers) before dinner.

   Overnight at Zmela.

2. Day 2: Tamazret, Sidi Driss & Toujane

   • Enjoy your breakfast at a campsite restaurant and head to Tamazret, a Berber village, where you will be served traditional tea with rosemary and almonds.

   • Continue to a troglodyte house where you will be greeted by a plate of olive oil and honey, served with bread and tea prepared by your host.

   • Have your lunch in the famous hotel Sidi Driss, the shooting location of some scenes from Star Wars.

   • Drive to Djerba through the famous Berber village of Toujane: an ochre village hidden between two mountains.
