Discover the Beautiful City of Tabuk
- Enjoy a full day in Tabuk City and visit the following places:
-
Tabuk Castle
- The castle consists of two floors. The ground floor contains an open courtyard and several rooms that open onto it from the north and south sides, eight rooms, a mosque, and a well. There are stairs leading to the first floor, an open mosque, and rooms, as well as stairs leading to the towers used for guarding and monitoring. The lower mosque rises on the southern side. There are also 12 rooms on the northern and western sides. A stone gutter on the western side overlooking the courtyard drains water from the first floor. It is noted that there are archers’ trenches on all sides. There are three stairs, two leading to the towers, one on the northwestern side and the other on the southwestern side. They are built of mud bricks and are used for guarding and placing cannons that were fired to celebrate the arrival of pilgrims. The third staircase leads to the area of the second, open upper floor.
-
Ain al-Sukkar
- Ain Al-Sukkar in Tabuk is the oldest spring in the region. It carries a history of giving as it is one of the most important historical and archaeological sites. Ain Al-Sukkar gained its importance from the Prophet’s (PBUH) arrival there in the ninth year of Hijra and his drinking from it and using it for ablution during the Battle of Tabuk, where he washed his hands and his noble face and then returned it to it. The spring gushed forth abundant water from which people drew water. Then the Prophet (PBUH) said to his companion Muadh: (Soon, Muadh, if you live long enough, you will see what is here filled with gardens).
-
Masjid at-Tawba
- The mosque is one of the most prominent landmarks of Tabuk and its most famous mosques. It gained its status because it represents an important historical stage represented by the Battle of Tabuk and the Army of Difficulty that the Prophet Muhammad prepared in the year 9 AH to meet the Roman army. According to historical references, the mosque dates back to the Battle of Tabuk, when the Prophet Muhammad resolved in the ninth year of the Hijra to meet the Roman army, so he prepared the Army of Difficulty. When the army led by the Prophet arrived in the Tabuk region, precisely where the mosque was located, it stayed for about 20 nights, and no one from the Roman army came to them. The Prophet began to receive delegations to reconcile and pay the tribute, so he took the Mosque of Repentance as his place, where the Prophet performed prayers for about ten nights.
-
Bedouin Market
- The former public market, or Prince Fahd bin Sultan Street Market, has been the nucleus of commercial activity in Tabuk City since ancient times, and its roots extend back more than 500 years. It was a seasonal market for pilgrims who passed through the city.
-
Tabuk Station - Hijaz Railway Station
- It is a narrow gauge railway (1050 mm wide) connecting Damascus and Medina, established to serve Muslim pilgrims. Work on the railway began in 1900 AD, and it was opened in 1908 AD and continued to operate until the line was destroyed in 1916 AD during World War I, as the Great Arab Revolt and the fall of the Ottoman Empire after the war sabotaged it. The Hejaz-Tabuk Railway Station is located in an area of more than 80 thousand square meters, and 13 buildings have been recently renovated, including a handicraft center, a workshop, a structure carrying a freight car, a locomotive and many interesting Ottoman artifacts.
