Itinerary

1. Day 1- Kigali City Tour

   • Arrival in Kigali and check-in to the hotel.

   • Visit different sites in Kigali and its suburbs as well as the local markets with the Rwandan tour guide.

2. Day 2- Akagera National Park

   • Head to Akagera National Park with the Rwandan tour guide.

   • Take a boat ride in the afternoon on Lake Ihema to see crocodiles, schools of hippos and lots of water birds. 

   Overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge.

3. Day 3- Game Drive at Akagera National Park

   • Go on a game drive and get an opportunity to see over 12 species of antelopes, over 525 species of birds including the rare one called the shoebill stock, papyrus gonolek and the Big Five i.e. lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.

   • Explore the pastoral heritage experience in the afternoon and head to Kigali. 

   Overnight stay at Musanze.

4. Day 4- Gorilla Trekking and Buhanga Forest

   • Take a noon excursion into Buhanga forest (where all Rwandan Kings were initiated). Visit one of the last remaining mountain gorilla families in the world.

   • Drive to the beautiful twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. 

   • Take a village walk and get to know your neighbours in the surrounding village. 

   • Meet the local guide at your hotel. 

   • Drive off for a short while or walk right from there, depending on the distance of the hotel from the village trail we are to use. 

   Overnight stay at a recommended hotel.

5. Day 5- Cultural Experience

   • Visit Kinigi cultural village in Musanze to enjoy the unique dancing lyrics of the Rwandans known as 'Batwa'.

   • Go for the thrilling banana and sorghum beer production experiences. 

   • Drive back to Kigali for a short farewell party and then drive to the airport.
