Hello! My name is Elizabeth, or shortly Liza for you.I am certified as a tour guide at at Saint-Petersburg, but my passion runs much deeper. All of my life I have lived in Saint Petersburg, admiring and studying its colorful history and desire to share all I have learned with the world.I am energetic and have a wonderful sense of humor that will add color to my time with you.I am excited to be the one to share our rich history and splendors with visitors from other regions.
Have you ever think how to paint your home place? As to me, I would take a wide color scale to portraiture my Saint-Petersburg.First, I would take a large canvas, for about 250 square miles and cover it with gray grounding. You see, there were old marshes here 300 years ago...when the construction of Saint-Petersburg started. The next step: yellow, pink and beige and light blue: mansions and palaces of russian nobility and blue eyes of the Russian empress Elizabeth, daughter of the Tsar Peter the Great, due to his will the city was constructed as future paradise of Russia.Along the palaces I would paint dark blue lines of rivers and canals and the main blue line that is the Neva river, crossed with black iron bridges in lace iron black fences, there are famous drawbridges of Saint-Petersburg.In summer time the bridges could be raised up giving way to navigation.Well, isn't it too dark there, in my painting? I will dilute darkness with white color of our famous white nights and at that moment I will switch on a record from some musical festival, classical or jazz, whatever you like, as there are abundance of them here at summer time.
I will put a big diamond in the central part of painting it will mark the State Hermitage museum with its richest collection of art.I will not paint all exhibits, there are too much for me, 3 millions, but I will write the names of Rembrandt and Leonardo, Van Hog and Matisse somewhere near.I will set precious jewels around the central part of my canvas, there are diamonds of countryside royal residences near by the city: the eighth miracle of the world, famous Amber room in Catherine Palace in Royal Village, the symphony of fountains of Peterhof parks, that impressed diplomats of 18th century, as well as modern ones.
Then I will not forget to reflect sunlight in golden dome of the cathedral of St.Izaak, the fourth largest cupola cathedral in the world, some colorful spots will be added by the enamel and mosaic decorations of the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood, the place of murder of Russian Tsar Alexander the 2.Finally I will pierce the skyline with the spire of Peter and Paul cathedral, the official burial place of royal dynasty for the last 300 years. The golden angel on the top of it blesses my favorite city. You might think, that my painting looks too abstract? Nothing of that kind! The city is equipped with all modern conveniences you just can wish: hotels and restaurants, bars and night clubs, public transport and horse-drawn carriages. And my city is safe! I am sure you will like it! And I invite you to explore the city with me and may be together we will paint your own Saint-Petersburg that will stay for ever in your heart.
