Description

Sign-up for this full-day adventurous trek to the Vlădeasa Mountains, the northernmost of the three high central massifs of the Western Transylvanian Mountains. Take in breathtaking views of the snow-clad mountains on this day hike.

Itinerary

Hike to Vladeasa Peak
- Meet your tour guide and travel on the hiking trail, starting from Rogojel village; you will hike for about 2 hours to Vladeasa chalet, where you will eat your hiking sandwich and hydrate with a warm tea.
- After the break, you will continue hiking to Vladeasa Peak for another 2 hours. The way back will be shorter; about 3 hours to arrive at Rogojel village where the car will wait for you.
- In the evening, the guide will take you back to your accommodation in Cluj-Napoca.
The difficulty of the hike is easy-medium, 7 hours hiking with 500 meters elevation. No rock climbing was involved. No special gear is needed.

Know Before You Go

The Vlădeasa Mountains are the northernmost of the three high central massifs of the Western Transylvanian (Apuseni) Mountains, which belong in the Southwestern Carpathians. The main ridge of the Vlădeasa massif is about 50km long. The eastern ridge boasts the highest peak named Vf. Vlădeasa which tops out at 1836m. It is the third-highest summit in the Apuseni Mountains.

What To Bring

Basic hiking gear required for a day hike in the summer:

1) Hiking boots with adherent sole,”vibram sole if it is possible” waterproof and preferably with high ankles

2) Breathable t-shirt, 1-2-3

3) Quick Dry Pants-Shorts

4) Warm blouse (in a bag in the backpack),

5) Jacket (waterproof),

6) Rain coat,

7) Moisture-wicking underwear

8) Socks (synthetic or wool)

9) Hiking poles (optional), we will offer them

10) Small backpack aprox 20L to 30L,

11) 2 l water bottle or reservoir,

12) Sungalsses,

13) Sunscreen,

14) Sun hat,

15) Food for the trail (sandwiches, carbohydrate-rich energy bars, granola, trail mix and fruit provide an instant pick-me-up on the trail)

For winter hiking the company will provide you with: snowshoes, avalanche tranceivers (if the case) or gaiters
