Itinerary

1. Day 1: Start the Trek from Oradea

   Visit the following places:

   • Oradea, a city in northwest Romania, split by the Crișul Repede River. It’s known for baroque and art nouveau architecture, remnants of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Secessionist buildings line central Strada Republicii.
   • Cluj, a city in northwestern Romania, is the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. It's home to universities, vibrant nightlife and landmarks dating to Saxon and Hungarian rule. 
   • Brasov, a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. It's known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes.
   • Vatra Dornei, a city in Suceava County, north-eastern Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Bukovina.

   Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

   Travel time: Around 8 hours
   The road trip is made by bus or train.

2. Day 2: Vatra Dornei

   • Visit and go sightseeing in Vatra Dornei.

   • Explore the Chalet Giumalau. 

   • Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

   Travel time: Around 5 hours

   Level difference: Around 800 m

   Altitudes: Vatra Dornei 800 m, Chalet Giumalau : 1,542 m

   Travel distance: Around 20 km

3. Day 3: Climb Giumalau

   Visit the following today:

   • Chalet Giumalau 
   • Peak Giumalau 
   • Rarau Mountains

   Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

   Travel time: Around 4 hours

   Level difference: Around 400 meters

   Altitudes: Peak Giumalau - 1,857 m, Rarau-1,520 m 

   Travel Distance: Around 15 km

4. Day 4: Explore Lady Stones & Rarau

   Visit the following throughout the day:

   • Rarau Peaks 
   • The Cave with Bats 
   • Rarau Hermitage and The Lady's Stones

   Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

   Travel time: Around 6 hours

   Level difference: around 500 meters

   Altitudes: Lady Stones - 1,634 m ; Rarau Hermitage - 1,103 m

   Travel Distance: Around 20 km

5. Day 5: Explore Cimpulung Moldovenesc & Rarau

   Visit the following places throughout the day: 

   • Rarau 
   • The Mill of the Devil 
   • Cimpulung Moldovenesc
   • Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

   Travel time: Around 6 hours

   Level difference: 1000 m

   Altitudes: Rarau-1,520 m ; Campulung Moldovenesc 630 m

   Travel distance: Around 20 km

6. Day 6: Visit the Wood Monasteries

   • Visit the wood monasteries from Maramures, Rogoz, Ieud, Barsana, Desesti, Surdesti, the merry cemetery from Sapinta.
   • Overnight stay in a tent or chalet, depending on the weather conditions.

7. Day 7: Sapinta - Cluj - Brasov or Oradea

   Visit the following places throughout the tour:

   • Sapinta 
   • Cluj 
   • Brasov Or Oradea.
