Description

Summit the Spantik Golden Peak, situated in Nagar Valley by climbing the beautiful and spectacular mountain trails from the Baltistan side. Trek across the Chogolungma glacier to complete the Spantik Peak Expedition. The route to the 7027 meters Spantik Peak starts in the Arandu region of Baltistan, also known as little Tibet.

Itinerary

Day 1- Arrival in Islamabad
- Arrive in Islamabad. Connect with your tour representative and start the tour.
- Transfer to hotel.
- Sightseeing in the afternoon.
- Visit Faisal Mosque, Damen-e-Koh, Constitution Avenue, Lok Virsa Museum and Shakar Parian.
Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2- Islamabad
- Attend expedition briefing with the Ministry of Tourism.
- Also, coordinate and finalize formalities with the government-appointed liaison officer.
- Evening at leisure.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3- Islamabad - Skardu
- You will be transferred to Islamabad airport for the flight. This flight is subject to weather.
- Alternately, we may take a two-day drive to Skardu through the Karakoram Highway.
Stay overnight at Chilas on the bank of Indus.
Day 4- Skardu
- Free day at Skardu for those flying in.
- Skardu is the capital of Baltistan and stands at an altitude of 2278 meters. It serves as the starting point for some of the most scenic and adventurous trekking in the world.
- Morning visit to the Bazaar and in the afternoon, we will go to Satpara Lake.
Overnight stay at Motel.
Day 5- Skardu - Arandu Vallage
- Get on board soft-top 4X4 jeeps for 8/9 hours drive to Arandu.
Overnight at camp.
Day 6- Arandu - Man Pakora
- Trek along Basha River for 3-4 hours to the snout of Chogolungma Glacier.
- It takes an hour to cross the northern lateral moraine.
- Across the glacier, it is a 2-3 hours walk on green meadows.
Overnight camping at Man Pakora.
Day 7- Man Pakora - Bolocho
- Go for a 7-8 Hours walk to see a view of the perfect pyramid of Spantik Peak guarding the head of the valley to the summer settlement of Manchikera.
- Continue walking along the Ablation valley between the lateral moraine and the mountain to the summer settlement of Balocho.
Overnight camping at Bolocho.
Day 8- Spantik Base Camp
- Do 4-5 hours pf walk on Chogolugma Glacier to the base camp of Spantik.
- A strenuous trek over rock and ice.
Day 9- Base Camp 1
- Climb to Base Camp 1.
Day 10- Base Camp 1
- Climb to Base Camp 1.
Day 11- Base Camp 1
- Climb to Base Camp 1.
Day 12- Base Camp 2
- Climb to Base Camp 2.

- Walk and drive back by the same route to Skardu City.
Day 27- Skardu - Chilas
- Drive on Karakoram Highway along the Indus river to Chilas.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel or fly to Islamabad.
Day 28- Chilas - Taxila - Islamabad
- Drive via Rawalpindi to Islamabad
- En route, visit Taxila, the former capital of Gandhara Civilization.
- Visit the archaeological remains of a monastery (Julian), a city (Sirkap) and the museum.
- Continue to drive to Rawalpindi, transfer to Hotel and have farewell dinner at a typical Punjabi restaurant.
Day 29- Islamabad
- In the morning, visit the Ministry of Tourism office for de-briefing.
- In the afternoon, you are free to see local bazaars.
Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 30- Departure
- Transfer to the airport for departure.

Accommodation: There are good standard hotels on a half-board, twin-sharing basis in the towns. During camping - in dome tents on a twin sharing basis, with full board services

Transportation: Air Conditioned transportation in Islamabad and up to Skardu. 4x4 soft-top jeeps till trek-head for members and equipment

Meals: All meals in the cities, during trekking and at the base camp

Equipment: All camping & kitchen equipment will be provided during trekking and at the base camp

Customs clearance: In Islamabad, we shall take care of the customs clearance procedure of equipment, and we will store the equipment till the arrival of the climbing team (fee not included)

Briefing & De-briefing: Our guide will assist you in briefing & de-briefing with the ministry of tourism and coordinate the matters with the government-appointed Liaison officer

Portage: All portage for base camp food and camping equipment. Portage of 75kg per paying climber from Islamabad to base camp (personal gear, high altitude equipment, high altitude food)

Supporting Staff: Qualified English-speaking Pakistani mountain guide, cook and helper will stay at the base camp with the group throughout the expedition

Guarantee for a Helicopter rescue and pollution fee (fee not included)

Insurance of porters, staff, Liaison officer

Know Before You Go

This beautiful summit of more than 7000m of rugged terrain was climbed for the first time by a team from Frankfort in 1955. Since then, it has been climbed regularly every year by many expeditions. Mostly, it is climbed from the South-East because of a regular classical ridge going to the top.

This mountain has some other names, like Yengulz Har, Ghenish Chhish (which translates into English as Golden Peak) etc.

This mountain is visible from the village of Nagar (Hunza). One can discover the terrible north face and its famous Northwest marble pillar climbed in August 1987 by Flower and Saunders Moreover. The summit glows golden during sunset when observed from Nagar, which gives it the name Golden Peak.

To understand how we would climb, we had to walk three days on the glacier of Chogolugma to reach the base camp. This type of adventure depends on great fitness and the necessary experience of high mountains.

This expedition appeals to those people who have already roped autonomously on a snowy mountain and glaciers.
