Embark on an exhilarating 5-day trek in the Huayhuash mountains from Huaraz, with time to acclimatise before heading into the range. Travel through Llamac and the Pocpa valley, be mesmerised by Ninashanca Mountain, and appreciate panoramic views of the beautiful green lake of Solterococha. Cross Sambunya Pass, camp at Rondoy and Jahuacocha, and enjoy a rest day by Lake Rasac with time for fishing or hiking. Day by day
Meet your tour guide at a pre-decided location.
This day is reserved for acclimatisation. Your guide will help you get used to the high altitude of Huaraz before you set out on your trek.
Pack your bags and set out from Huaraz to Llamac at 9:00 AM.
Begin driving southward and cross the Conococha Pass.
Make your way to the southernmost peaks of the Cordillera Blanca. This range of the Huayhuash is a single cluster of seven of the highest and most dramatic summits in Peru.
Descend to the small town of Llamac and travel through the Pocpa valley. You will see Pocpa, a small town located 3600 m above sea level.
Arrive at Pallca at 2:00 PM.
Continue for half an hour to your campsite at Rondoy, located 4000 m above sea level.
On the way, be mesmerised by Ninashanca Mountain.
Overnight camp at Rondoy.
Start your day with breakfast at the campsite.
Begin your hike up to Sambunya Pass.
Stop by the beautiful mountains for a quick photo session.
Appreciate the panoramic views of the beautiful green lake of Soltero Cocha as you descend.
Trek to Jahuacocha, your campsite for the night, located 4200 m above sea level.
Arrive at the campsite for dinner and rest for the night.
Enjoy your breakfast at the campsite.
You may go fishing or hike around Lake Rasac.
Visit the beautiful Solterococha.
Return to the campsite in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Jahacocha Camp Place.
Begin your day with breakfast at the campsite.
Go on an easy trek to Pampallamac, where you will catch your last glimpse of the Huayhuash Mountains.
Have lunch and rest for a while.
Leave for Llamac town, driving down along the Llamac River until Timpoc, where you will see where the Llamac River and the Pavillon River join.
Continue to Chiquian along the Ainin River.
Explore Chiquian.
Drive for 3 hours to your hotel in Huaraz.
