Description
Take a scenic bus trip to the Chavin de Huantar, an archaeological site in Peru containing ruins and artifacts constructed as early as 1200 BCE and occupied until around 400–500 BCE by the Chavín, a major pre-Inca cultural tribe. Pass through typical villages of Recuay and Huacapampa, across the Santa River, to learn more about the local people's lives. Spot sheepherders' village on the wayside and discover its highlands, pastures and small valleys.

Chavin Pre-Inca Ruins Tour
Pick up from the hotel in Huaraz at 8 am and depart for Chavin de Huantar ruins.
Drive through the villages of Recuay and Huacapampa across the Santa river.
Continue by the eucalyptus trees passing through the sheepherders' village.
Join the paved highway and drive along the highlands full of pastures and straws.
Arrive at a small valley and discover the Querococha lake there.
Continue to the highest pass of Tunel de Cahuish, an important point for the hydrographical division where the west side water flows to Pacific ocean and east side water flows to the Atlantic Ocean.
Travel through the narrow valley in a zig-zag way, passing through Rio Mosna by the river's flanks.
Arrive at the archaeological site of Chavin de Huantar.
Have lunch at a local restaurant.
Explore the castle of Chavin and discover many labyrinth rooms.
Proceed to one of the main buildings amongst the Chavin ruins-the Lanzon, a big stone carved remain of the Pre-Incas.
Observe the plazas, cavezas clavas main porch, the modern museum and more to know about the Chavin Culture.
Return to the hotel in Huaraz.
