Description
Visit the archaeological site of Waqrapukara (fortress) in the Cusco region. Built by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe, and later conquered by the Incas, the ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara is one of Peru's archaeological treasures. Travel to Pitumarca town and enjoy some scenic landscape views of the Peruvian Andes from this region.

Sites to visit in Cusco
- Leave Cusco early in the morning around 3:30 AM for the journey to Pitumarca town.
- Arrive at Pitumarca town and have breakfast. Continue your road journey till you reach the beginning of the hike at the Peruvian flat terrain, a paradise spot where one can see panorama views of the Peruvian Andes.
- Explore the spiritual town and centre of Waqrapucara, with a visit to the local temple, whilst enjoying stunning views of the Apurimac canyon.
- Finally, follow a trail that goes down, by the mountainside. This will include about three hours of trekking until you return back to your starting trail for the return journey to Cusco at 7:00 pm.
